The erasure is quite well researched, particularly from the perspective of legislation which was adopted at the time of independence, and its interpretation. Some of the internal circulars used by the authorities to order to carry out the erasure are also publicly known. In spite of this there are several details about the erasure and its aftermath in the last 20 years that remain hidden.
