The Unbearable Comfort of Privacy is an attempt at sociological analysis of the everyday life of gays and lesbians in Slovenia. This book takes as a basis the empirical material gathered during the period 2002-2004. The issues addressed are identity and coming out, same-sex partnerships, homophobic violence and discrimination (particularly in school and in the workplace), attitudes towards gay and lesbian subculture in the media, and the issue of children in homosexual families. The Unbearable Comfort of Privacy is a research document on the everyday life of gays and lesbians living in Slovenia. It is a representative work in the field of Gay and Lesbian Studies.
