Handbook for non-governmental organizations: Through effective communication to greater visibility
Handbook for non-governmental organizations: Through effective communication to greater visibility is intended for non-governmental organizations and other civil-society groups that work in the field of advocacy, human rights and active citizenship. The handbook offers practical knowledge and the use of communication tools for work in the field of everyday communication with different publics. It is written on the basis of trainings at various workshops on communication within the non-governmental sector and the experiences of non-governmental organizations. It is mainly intended for those who are responsible for communicating with the public within non-governmental organizations.
In the introduction, we present the advantages of organized, strategic communication and what considerations must be taken into account. Furthermore, we present various communication practices, tools, channels and skills that non-governmental organizations can use in everyday communication with different publics, or can improve their communication with them. Through the handbook, we cite various examples of four non-governmental organizations: the Peace Institute, the Association of Journalists of Slovenia, Pod Črto and Danes je nov dan, which differ from each other in their way of working and which implement various forms of strategic communication as part of their operations and activities.
