At the Crossroads of Discrimination. Multiple and Intersectional Discrimination
The book At the Crossroads of Discrimination. Multiple and Intersectional Discrimination discusses the results from the qualitative research on multiple and intersectional discrimination in Slovenia. Through a plastic presentation of the praxis of discrimination the author points at the necessity to recognize discrimination, which is not based only on one personal circumstance. Discrimination is often a result of co-effects of several factors, which create a new “content of discrimination”. One-dimensional approach to intersectional discrimination in namely always limited.
Stories about discrimination, presented in the book, give us a hopeless feeling that discrimination continues to occur despite efforts to eradicate it. However the author points out that despite the endlessness of the spiral of discrimination, legal regulations, anti-discrimination legislation, examples of good practices and greater sensibility to discrimination are nonetheless proof that the fight against discrimination in not fruitless after all. All these doubts does not absolve us from the obligation to actively prevent discrimination, educate about discrimination, to draw attention to discrimination, to recognize it and to strive for an inclusive society.
