Article Multi-local and cross-border care loops: Comparison of childcare and eldercare policies in Slovenia

Majda Hrženjak, a researcher at the Peace Institute, published an article in the Journal of European Social Policy, SAGE Journals, entitled Multi-local and cross-border care loops: Comparison of childcare and eldercare policies in Slovenia, in which she compares childcare and care for old people. The analysis shows, among other things, that the country’s inadequacy in the system of care for the elderly causes intensive, multidirectional and diverse care migration in Slovenia: 1. systematic recruitment of care workers from the countries of the former Yugoslavia into institutional and home care in Slovenia; 2. caring emigration of the elderly to institutional care in neighboring Croatia; 3. labor emigration of care workers from Slovenian care organizations (homes for the elderly, home care institutions) to neighboring Italy and Austria.
