Gender Mainstreaming: Policy Frames and Implementation Problems
Gender | Project duration: 1/9/2002 - 31/12/2005
The principle of gender mainstreaming aims at (re)organization, improvement and development of policy processes in such a way that gender equality is actively taken into consideration at the level of policy-making. It focuses at different political actors to stimulate them to take the principle of gender equality into serious consideration. Although some EU member states started to implement gender mainstreaming, the strategy of implementation is still vague and open for a variety of different understandings. The workshop is meant to add value to the project on gender mainstreaming (MAGEEQ) (funded within the 5th EU Framework program) in which the Peace Institute is active as one of the partner institution. The project aims at discussing different conceptualizations of gender mainstreaming.
