New project “Social & Solidarity Economy as Development Approach for Sustainability in EYD 2015 and Beyond”

New project “Social & Solidarity Economy as Development Approach for Sustainability in EYD 2015 and Beyond”

We are starting a new project which is dedicated to research, advocacy, awareness raising and promoting good practices in the field of “bridging the gap” between Development Cooperation (DC) and Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) by involving public institutions and enhancing their awareness on how changes in the legal framework and public policies may strengthen the linkage between SSE and the fight against poverty. SSE actions have been carried out all over the world, but the ongoing debate rarely involves the operators dealing with DC and Development Education and Awareness Raising (DEAR). Besides, in the area of SSE a basic knowledge on global interdependencies between the EU and the Developing Countries is fairly widespread.

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to a coherent and comprehensive response to the universal challenges of poverty eradication and sustainable development, ensuring a decent life for all by 2030.

The action will be implemented in 23 European member states encompassing 46 territories that, with a total amounting to 133 million inhabitants, represent 26,3% of the population of the EU. The selection was made taking into proper consideration both their dissimilar socio-economic characteristics and the diversified role that SSE plays in each chosen territory.
