Monitoring civic space

Monitoring civic space

At the second partner meeting of the PROSECO project, which took place in early October in Trnava, Slovakia, we discussed in detail the national activities carried out so far and also planned the next steps of the project.

We are currently focusing on the development of a methodology that will serve as a tool for analysing the state of civic space in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, and Slovenia. The goal of the PROSECO project is to create a framework that will enable regular and consistent monitoring of the environment in which civil society organizations operate. The data obtained through this methodology will contribute to informing EU-level processes that assess the state of civic space and the rule of law, support the consolidation of networks, and improve evidence-based advocacy. In this way, we aim to contribute to creating a more conducive environment for the operation of civil society organizations.

In November, we will organize an online event in collaboration with our Slovak partners, Malý Berlín, where we will discuss the current state of media freedom in Slovakia and Slovenia. We will also present examples of best practices that demonstrate how to successfully resist political pressure and attempts to influence the media landscape.
