Launch of a new project focusing on empowerment of ecosystems of civil society

Together with coordinator and partners, we have launched the project “Empowering Ecosystems of Civil Society Organisations in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, and Slovenia”. We aim to build a more resilient civil sector by connecting hundreds of local NGOs and more than 50 of their umbrella networks.

We kicked off the project in Prague with a two-day meeting of partners from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Croatia: Glopolis, Network for the Protection of Democracy, Malý Berlín and Crosol. We discussed current civic space and network’s situation with key challenges in each country, planned further steps and activities within the project, set up communication strategy and talked about the process of developing methodology on monitoring civic space and its resillience.

What we aim to achieve over the next two years:

• Monitoring and analysis of the civil sector, its resillience and good practices;
• Strengthening cooperation, dialogue, and sharing of best practices at both local and European level;
• Organizing strategic coordination meetings for umbrella networks;
• Roundtable discussions with policymakers on their support for the rule of law, civil space, and democracy in the involved countries and the EU;
• Creating comprehensive reports on the state of the civil space in individual countries.
