Anouncement of project findings
20. 6. 2004 | Media
South East European Network for Professionalisation of the Media (SEENPM), the Peace Institute, Ljubljana and the partner centres/institutes announce the publishing of the findings of the project: Media ownership and its impact on media independence and pluralism in South East Europe and EU accession countries (now, new EU member states from Central and Eastern Europe).
The aim of the project was to examine media ownership in SEE and EU accession countries, focusing on the regulatory framework and implementation mechanisms, privatisation, ownership structure of the main media, and their impact on pluralism and independence of the media. The 18 countries (entities) were included in the project: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Kosovo/a, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.
The project, conducted from July 2003 to June 2004, was led by the Peace Institute in Ljubljana, a member of the SEENPM. Local country reporters analysed the specific situations in each country and presented their findings in comprehensive research papers. 18 reports and a regional overview, prepared by the Peace Institute in Ljubljana, were compiled into a book that we now announce the publishing of.
The findings of the project are now available in book format (in English, 500 pages) or e-book format at this website.
