Digital Infrastructures of Solidarity on the Balkan Migration Route

foto 3As part of the COST project on socio-technical challenges of European migration and border control, a series of workshops and round tables were held on June 25 and 26 at the National and Kapodistrian University in Athens. The discussions focused on the datafication of migration and the increased informational surveillance of borders. Barbara Beznec (ZRC SAZU) and Mojca Pajnik (Peace Institute) highlighted solidarity infrastructures in the context of the Balkan migration route in their presentation »Changing Imaginaries of Balkan Solidarity Structures in Migration.« They analyzed the mediatized struggles of migrants along the Balkan route and the initiatives of activist groups as »digital infrastructures of solidarity,« which constitute the mobile commons.
