The Role of Non-Governmental Organisations and Volunteers in Protection of Children’s Rights and Human Rights
The project contributes to the recognition of models of good practices of developing voluntary work and extending voluntary work in the field of protection of children’s rights and human rights, thus increasing the component of civic education and social activism. Moreover, it enables a wider discussion of prospects for new avenues of volunteer work, particularly in terms of accessing the marginalised groups that have so far remained largely “unseen” by the volunteering NGOs. This also provides an important opportunity for the Slovenian volunteer organisations and volunteers to re-examine their work and re-evaluate their priorities, looking for possible new forms of engagement.

Project execution
• three workshops in Ljubljana, 3 February 2010: two were organised by the Peace Institute: one discrimination and one on volunteering and migrations; one was organised by Ombudsman’s Adviser for International Relations, Publishing and Surveys on the theme of human rights and children’s rights;
• a public presentation of activities of participant NGOs;
• participation and presentation of activities of participant NGOs at the 7th Slovene Congress of Volunteers at Debeli rtič, Ankaran, on 4 and 5 February 2010.
