Populism and public opinion on migration
At the recent meeting of the research group we have set up a research model to study the impact of populist politics and media on the formation of public opinion on migration.
Exclusionary populism has the power to mobilize and reinforce discomfort, fear and insecurity, and to channel these emotions into anger towards minority groups. At the meeting of the research project »Political and media populism: ‘refugee crisis’ in Slovenia and Austria« we have set up a research model to study the impact of populism on the formation of public opinion on migration. We will analyse how populist attitudes to migration are formed in Autumn this year, by conducting a public opinion survey. The meeting took place in Ljubljana, on July 7, 2020.
