Peace Institute Forum »Your life is being recorded: Establishing of the society of control through information and communication technologies«, will be held on Thursday 17 October at 17.00 in Lily Novy (Cankarjev dom, Ljubljana). Disclosures of Edward Snowden have shown that with the digitization of everyday life people became increasingly transparent, traceable, controlled, while for the governments and the corporative companies applies the other way around. At the same time, through information and communication technologies, control enters the other, also very intimate level (e.g. via smart phones, posts on social networks, etc.). There is a clear understanding that the contemporary society became the society of control. At the Peace Institute forum we will discuss the role of communication and information technologies in that process, more concretely discussing the infringement of personal rights and freedoms, and analyzing the possibilities of resistance against such practices.
